Meet Our Doctors

Our Pain Management physicians have specialized education and are board certified in Anesthesiology and Pain Management. They are frequently requested as speakers for medical meetings and write articles on conditions seen and treatments performed in the field of Pain Management.

In addition, our PhD clinical psychologist has been helping people with pain for more than twelve years. She developed and is the co-leader in the “Supportive Training and Education for People with Pain” (STEPP) program.

Center for Advanced Medicine

Beverly Field, PhD.  Dr. Field is an expert in assessing the needs of individuals with chronic pain and provides counseling for those suffering with the lifestyle changes that often occur, helping them learn techniques for managing the pain and improving functioning . She sees people on both an individual and group basis. Dr. Field also performs psychological testing prior to spinal cord stimulator and pain pump implantation, bariatric surgery and upon referring physician request.

Lesley Rao, MD - Dr. Rao is especially interested in the management of pain related to cancer; however, she also has broad clinical interest in the management of acute and chronic pain and is expert in the full range of standard pain management therapies and interventions. She has interest and expertise in interventional pain therapies including vertebroplasty, spinal cord stimulation, and radiofrequency ablation techniques.

Rahul Rastogi, M.D. - Dr. Rastogi’s interest include post herpetic neuralgia, management of chronic/complex pain syndromes using interventional techniques, kyphoplasty, vertebroplasty, tumor debluking, spinal cord stimulator and spinal analgesic administration system (for cancer patients) placement.

Robert Swarm, M.D. - Dr. Swarm is an internationally known writer and speaker on issues related to pain management. He has particular interest and expertise in the use of interventional pain management therapies including injection techniques, vertebroplasty, kyphoplasty, spinal cord stimulator placement and spinal analgesic administration systems (for cancer patients).

Xiaobin Yi, M.D. - Dr. Yi’s clinical interest include interventional management of chronic back pain, chronic neck pain, trigeminal neuralgia and Complex Regional Pain Syndrome. His research interests are to explore the mechanism and treatment of neuropathic pain.

Bakul Dave, M.D. – Dr. Dave’s clinical interest include minimally invasive surgery for disc disorders including IDET, nucleoplasty and disc decompression, spinal cord stimulator implantation and vertebroplasty. He does not treat fibromyalgia, migraine headaches or abdominal pain. Dr. Dave takes great pride in customizing an individual treatment program for each patient.

Anthony Guarino, M.D. – Dr. Guarino has broad clinical interests which include management of chronic/complex pain syndromes using interventional modalities and multidisciplinary pain management. He also has a particular interest in the research of improving the outcomes in spinal injections. Dr. Guarino is a nationally known speaker on issues related to pain management.

The Pain Management Center moved to the 14th floor of the Center for Advanced Medicine in mid June 2013. The former offices in 2200 Steinberg (the Satellite) and on the 10th floor of the CAM are now closed. The number is unchanged: 314-362-8820. Suite 14-C.
